Test and English Certificate for Admission to Danish universities

Do you need an English certificate to study at a university in Denmark? Which English test should you choose?

The Oxford Online Placement Test is a language test organized by Oxford University Press. It consists of 30 multiple choice questions and 15 listening comprehension questions. The test length is 60-80 minutes (depending on the university). The test is recognized by most Danish universities and is a good alternative for all candidates who do not have the time or knowledge to pass the TOEFL, CAE or IELTS tests. Please, note that having one of the three certificates listed above will give you a slight advantage. Furthermore, you must have 210 hours (60 minutes) in English for the last 3 years of school for the test to be recognized by the Danish universities. Otherwise, you will need to pass TOEFL, IELTS or CAE.

How is the English Oxford Online Placement Test assessed?

A six-level range (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) is used to assess the language abilities, where the A1 level shows the lowest level and C2 the highest level of language competencies and skills. The tests are organized and evaluated on the basis of centrally defined and publicly available criteria in accordance with uniform identical rules.

This English test is at a relatively lower level than the other 3. This is a great option for students, whose English is not the best. Choosing to sit this test will have a direct result on your preparation time. As the test is a lot easier than TOEFL for example, you will need relatively less time to prepare in order to pass it with the required grade.
