The biggest event of the summer in Horsens is the language exchange school in the summer camp of VIA!

The summer camp in Denmark is an unusual language holiday abroad, through which you will get an idea of what it means to study at a Danish university. The teaching is intensive, the motivation is high and you will almost certainly work on a real project given by a Danish company. Since 2018 VIA organizes the language exchange camps in the winter as well, as not all students have the opportunity to spend enough time in the summer to travel abroad. There are 2-4 week intensive courses, most of which are in English. For each of them you will receive study credits, which will be a huge plus when applying to a university abroad. Most often, the courses are held at the new faculty of the university in the center of Aarhus. Some of them might be held in other buildings. Last but not least there are also courses that take place outside Denmark. Of course, this information is available on the university’s website, where it is constantly updated.

Detailed information about all courses offered for the summer camp in 2021 can be found on the university’s website. Pay attention to the middle of the page (the different squares), where there is a description of each of the courses and its program. Some of the areas are healthcare, education, pedagogy, social activities, engineering, construction, information technology. All courses offer practical activities in the relevant fields, based on applied scientific methods. Most of them use techniques from different fields, which allows students from abroad with different interests to work together in a team during the camp.

Are the students divided into Danish and internationals?

Some of the courses are only available in Danish, which suggests that these places will be filled by Danes. All others, where the language of instruction is English, allow both Danish and international students to work together. Even if there are no Danes in your course, this does not mean that you will not be able to establish contacts with them. On the contrary, the summer and winter camps at VIA are the perfect opportunity to build the connections you need before leaving for your bachelor’s degree in Denmark or abroad.
