Bachelor in Electronics Engineering (BEng and BSc)

What is the program all about?

With a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics you will create the electronic products of the future. Expect to develop analog and digital electronics, as well as intelligent systems and products that you will prepare for both industrial and consumer use.

All kinds of robots, green energy systems – wind turbines and solar cells, as well as all kinds of electronics for medical equipment, for example. In addition, you will develop software that is essential for Danish and international companies and you will constantly work with them together.

The development of new processes and products requires a broad approach, the technical aspects can not stand alone. Therefore, you will learn to include all important aspects and think consistently when developing new products.

Students from the 2 types of programs (BEng and BSc) are part of one class and drive their lectures and exercises together until the 4th semester. For his fifth semester, everyone chooses whether to do an exchange at another university (in Denmark or in another country) or to work in the “Experts in Teams” on the Sønderborg campus with other students.

The sixth semester is the key moment when everyone goes their own way. BEng students have compulsory internships, while BSc students have electives and write their dissertations. BEng students write their bachelor’s thesis in the 7th semester and have no electives while doing so. (BSc no 7th semester)

You should know that BSc students complete a bachelor’s degree, BUT DO NOT acquire the title of engineer. Many of them continue with a master’s degree to obtain it. However, the BEng student acquires the title after completing his bachelor’s degree!

Historically, the bachelor students (BSc) go directly to complete a master’s degree and then head to the job market, while BEng do not do a master’s degree but start working directly. If in the process of your education you change your desire, it is possible to change your program in the first year of study.

What are the conditions for admission and what documents do you need to submit?

In order for your documents to be reviewed, you must have:
English language – level B.
Mathematics – level A.
Physics – level B.

1. Motivation letter.
2. Diploma for completed secondary education or academic transcript (for the last 3 years with grades and number of hours).
3. Verification form.
4. Copy of ID card or passport.
5. Certificate in English.

What can you continue to study or work on?

As an electronics engineer, you have a wide range of career opportunities both in Denmark and abroad. For example, you can work with medical equipment, computers and data networks, control and monitoring systems, energy saving products, mobile communications, electrical devices and machines, robots, software development, regulation and automation of production processes and industrial electronics.

Structure of the program

The bachelor’s program in electronics is a set of theoretical courses and project work. Each semester you will engage in a big topic that is the basis of the theory and work on the project.

During the first semester you get acquainted with electronics and what it takes to be able to develop electronic products. The second semester is dedicated to industrial electronics – you will be processing signals and electronic filters. In the third semester you will upgrade your knowledge of electronics and work with more modern electronic systems such as frequency converters and electric motors, as well as the development of control systems. In the fourth semester, you will work mainly with digital electronics and advanced hardware and software.

The fifth semester is for interdisciplinary collaboration, project management and power electronics. You can also choose to study this semester abroad. In the 6th semester you have to complete a six-month engineering internship in a Danish or foreign company. This is one of the main moments when you will be able to shine, of course, you have not already done so!

The education ends with the seventh semester, where you will be quite busy writing a thesis. You usually work on it during your internship or choose another topic / company to solve a problem that interests you.
