Global Nutrition and Health (BA)

Global Nutrition and Health

What is the program all about?

The bachelor’s program Global Nutrition and Health is 3.5 years long. 210 ECTS – points, 30 per semester. The first semester is the most intensive as you will study a lot of theory. For example, the subjects during the first semester are: Physiology and Anatomy, Nutrition (Nutrition Science), Biochemistry, Sociology of Nutrition and Health and Intercultural Communications. At first it sounds scary, but later on it becomes clear that the subjects are closely related to one other. The same applies for the exams at the end of the semester.

There are two exams – the first is a multiple choice one, with questions from almost all subjects. The second is a 4-hour written exam to a given topic, practical and again related to several subjects. The fourth and sixth semesters are internships. Many alumni will introduce you to the details of the internships, as they are an extremely important part of the education and reward you with a lot of experience. There are many opportunities for internships, and if there is not what you would like, you can create it yourself – the university will help you! The seventh semester is the preparation of a bachelor’s project, which you will have to present at the end of the semester. The program includes a lot of teamwork and in most subjects you will be divided into different groups of 4-5 people. Grades are obtained only from the exams at the end of each semester. All other projects are preparation for the relevant exams and their requirements.

Personal opinion and practical experience

Why did I choose Global Nutrition and Health? I found it extremely interesting a year and a half before I decided I wanted to do this. I was very interested in sports, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. Besides, it didn’t take me long to see how “modern” the theme was and how much emphasis was placed on it nowadays.

Seriously, how many people enter the science behind a “healthy lifestyle”. “Why should we eat protein after a workout? Or should we do it at all?! What is the point of fruits and vegetables when we can just take supplements? ” and many other similar questions led me to the decision that I wanted to learn this and share my knowledge with other people, who want to know the truth behind the facts and not just believe everything written on the internet. Of course, it is too early to say whether I will work with exactly this piece of the program, because the possibilities are endless!
