Portfolio – do you really need it to be accepted in your desired program?
Why is no one talking about this document and which programs need it?
How should it look like  and what to include in it?

The universities in Denmark receive a large number of applications, which makes admission quite competitive. Furthermore, since 2015 the places for international students were significantly reduced, which grants admission only to the best candidates. Make no mistake, almost every university in Denmark wants to admit the candidates with the “X factor”. Ask yourself what makes you different from everyone else and why should they accept you. If you are content with the minimum admission requirements, then your chances of admission are as good as anybody else. However, a lot of students will have higher grades from high school than you, all will cover the English level requirements and of course will present recommendations and cover letters. So, how do you plan to stand out? Are you planning to attract the attention of the admission officer? If you do, then create your portfolio show them who you are!

Is the Portfolio Compulsory?

Most programs in Denmark do not require a portfolio as a mandatory document, which should be uploaded when applying. Of course, there are some which require it. In these cases you will have to create your own! In all other cases, it is important to demonstrate your experience in the relevant field in a way that is attractive for the admission officer. This will surely set you apart from the rest candidates. Creating a portfolio is not an easy process. To be able to prepare your portfolio, you should have been working on certain projects related to the program you want to apply for – either independently, through a course or work / internship in the field. Contact us to find out more about how to design your portfolio, which will bring you closer to your desired university program in Denmark.

The competition in Denmark – what should you know?

In the last few years, the higher education in Denmark has become extremely popular, not only among students from the Balkan peninsula, but from all European countries. This trend has made the admission to the Danish universities quite competitive. The minimum admission requirements – a cover letter, a high school diploma, recommendation letters and an English certificate, do not guarantee admission to anyone, no matter how good your grades have been over the years. What no one will tell you is that you must be prepared to present various certificates that will give you an advantage over all other candidates applying for the same program as you. As they love saying in Denmark – you have to be proactive to succeed.

Not Quantity, but Quality!

A lot of the students, who contact us say that they have been volunteers for the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross, for example. We would like to point out that the recommendations and certificates you have obtained from such extracurricular activities may work if you want to study in the USA, but they are not very important when you apply for higher education in Denmark. Of course, these certificates have their value, but if you want to learn programming, you should focus on a course that will give you the necessary practical skills in the IT field, or at least some of them. Unfortunately, not many candidates know what courses to sign up for. You should also pay attention to the fact that these courses take weeks and sometimes months of training. Last but not least, the various courses are usually not cheap at all. Most often the prices start from 75 EURO. The good news is that we can assist with an unlimited number of courses from renowned universities around the world at a much lower cost! Contact us for more information.
